Today was yet another gorgeous day in Northern Virginia. So good, in fact, that I just turned on our A/C for the first time this year. Our thermostat was seriously reading in the 80’s when I got home. Hooray for impending summer and Sayonara cold wintery weather!
Yesterday was equally nice and just a bit cooler… yet still warm enough to wear shorts and a t-shirt while Jason and I took our annual walk around the Cherry Blossom festival. We walked from the Capitol building all the way to the tidal basin, because finding parking anywhere near the festival is the equivalent of finding gold at the end of a rainbow. The walk was really nice, although the trees this year were just so-so compared to past years. Either way, it’s our tradition to go and snap a few pictures regardless of how they look.
About midway through our walk I realized how thirsty I was and had luckily packed a bottle of water in my backpack. Staying hydrated is super important and I love drinking water. It’s my daily go to drink aside from fresh brewed tea, which brings me to the reason for this post… “Fit Tip Tuesday”
Let me start off by clarifying that I am not a health professional. Nor am I a dietician, fitness expert, or anything of the sort. I’m just a fan of leading a healthy lifestyle. Every Tuesday i’m going to post a “tip” that I incorporate into my daily routine to help keep me on the right track. With that being said, welcome to YoungFabLife’s very first “Fit Tip Tuesday”.
FIT TIP: Strive to drink your daily recommended intake of water.
Years and years ago I heard that you should drink half your body weight in ounces (of water) each day. For instance, if you weight 120 lbs then you would drink 60 ounces of water per day. For me, grabbing a water over a soda or sugary juice drink is second nature. But for a lot of people its the exact opposite. Don’t get me wrong, I do occasionally have a “drink” (Mojitos are my favorite), or even a soda. Sometimes I may even accidently find myself at the drive through of chick-fil-a ordering a cookies and cream milk shake. Basically, I love to indulge sometimes.
So give it a try. Forgo your soda or second cup of coffee and grab a nice cold glass of water! Drinking water doesn’t have to be boring either. Sometimes when I get a soda craving I grab a flavored seltzer water instead. Seagram’s is my favorite, especially the ‘blackberry raspberry’ flavor.
